participating in Swachh Bharat Abhiyan
NEW DELHI : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday congratulated sufi singer Kailash Kher for participating in the ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’.
“Bravo @kailashkher! I congratulate you for joining Swachh Bharat Mission in Varanasi. Admirable effort,” tweeted Prime Minister Modi. Kailash Kher is the latest celebrity to join the cleanliness mission, after a host of celebrities and ministers were spotted wielding the broom.
The Swachh Bharat Abhiyan was launched nationwide by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 2 to focus on sanitation, hygiene and waste management. It encourages people to sweep, remove garbage, debris and unauthorized encroachments from roads, markets and residential places.
The Swachh Bharat Abhiyan aims at making India a clean country by 2019, the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
