Shayama Prasad likely to return in forgetful Bengal, Mamata decides
KOLKATA: While other day a senior TMC leader issued threats to local party bosses, that “any TMC workers join BJP, you to submit an explanation tp party headquarters! And amidst these threats when State Assembly getting ready to observe birth anniversary of Shymaprasad Mukherjee this Sunday, TMC threw up a real surprise for one and all.
If former chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee landed in a big trouble by calling Mukherjee a “communal man’’ which later his leader Jyoti Basu publicly disowned (next day) at Writers’ Buildings, saying, “Buddha was wrong, Shyamaprasad wasn’t a communal man,’’ Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee wasn’t expected to be soft towards a leader who died in a mysterious circumstances in Kashmir jail while upholding unity of the nation
“Not only towards Mukherjee, Mamata doesn’t really have much regards for some of the tallest freedom leaders,’’ said a political commentator, hastening to add, “why she gave so much importance to a section of Netaji family, because they plotted with Congress to prove his fake death story in 1945, 18th August in aircrash?’’
Thus Mamata Banerjee’s decision to observe Shyamaprasad’s birth anniversary isn’t without a reason which left everyone surprised.Incidentally, Assembly Speaker Biman Bandopadhyaya told reporters it wasn’t a coincidence. He gave example of his government celebrating Jyoti Basu’s birth days.
“But let’s not read any political implications, as true Indians will always respect a great personality like Shyamaprasad Mukherjee,’’ said S Chattopadhyaya, a senior TMC leader in Assembly.“After all celebrating great men’s birthdays wouldn’t make it politically compelling for Mamata to demand inquiry into their mysterious deaths. Isn’t it? Much to the liking of the new BJP Government, it was again a political gesture from Mamata,’’ added the commentator, saying, “invite cooperation from BJP-ruled Centre.’’
