Key to power in Singhbhum will be in hands of tribal communities
PRABAL MAHATO
MANOHARPUR (Jharkhan)The nomination process has been completed. It is clear who will contest from which party or as an independent. Today we will try to understand the situation of three of the six assembly constituencies of Singhbhum Lok Sabha constituency. In 2019, all the seats were with India Alliance. Five JMM and one Congress.
* Manoharpur – This time the situation of Manoharpur assembly constituency is the clearest. On this seat, Jagat Manjhi from JMM is in a better position. This seat has been given to AJSUPA from NDA. Due to no BJP candidate, the contest has become almost one-sided.
* Jagannathpur – On Jagannathpur seat, BJP’s Geeta Koda from NDA fold and Congress’s outgoing MLA Sona Ram Sinku from India Alliance are in the fray. There is a situation of doubt in the area about Sona Ram Sinku. He is being considered Madhu Koda’s man and Geeta Koda’s dummy.
The tribals of the area and JMM supporters are not able to trust Sona Ram Sinku. Perhaps this is the reason why Jharkhand agitator independent Mangal Singh Bobonga also has a lot of influence in Jagannathpur area. In his election campaign, Bobonga also talks about supporting India alliance and making Hemant Soren the Chief Minister and JMM’s policies.
* Majhgaon – Here the direct contest is between BJP and JMM. But the problem of the BJP candidate is that the tribal voters are against the BJP for including Sarna code and Ho language in the Eighth Schedule. People are also considering Himanta Vishwakarma’s statement on this matter as a slogan and a lie.All the hopes of BJP now rest on the division of tribal votes.
If we look at the results of the last three Lok Sabha elections, we can see that the mood of the voters here has been changing. The influence of the Kod dynasty can be seen significantly in the local politics here.in the previous Lok Sabha elections held in 2019, the INC candidate, Geeta Kora, clinched victory with a significant margin. Geeta Kora secured 431,815 votes, defeating Laxman Giluwa of the BJP, who garnered 359,660 votes. The IND candidate, Pushpa Sinku, trailed with 15,224 votes. While In 2014 Lok Sabha polls, the BJP candidate Laxman Giluwa emerged victorious with 303,131 votes. Geeta Kora of the JBSP secured 215,607 votes. In 2009 Lok Sabha Elections Madhu Kora emerged victorious in the 2009 Lok Sabha polls with 256,827 votes, defeating Barkuwar Gagrai of BJP, who secured 167,154 votes.
