Sudha Narayan Murthy reached Rajya Sabha on International Women’s Day
NEW DELHI : Sudha Narayan Murthy, wife of famous businessman and Infosys co-founder Narayan Murthy, has been nominated to the Rajya Sabha by President Draupadi Murmu. Regarding this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Sudha Murthy and said that this is a powerful proof of women power. Sudha Murthy’s daughter Akshara Murthy is the wife of British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
Social worker and writer Sudha Murthy has been nominated to the Rajya Sabha on Friday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi appreciated his contribution in diverse fields. Modi, in a post onHe said, ‘I am happy that the President of India has nominated Sudha Murthy ji to the Rajya Sabha. Sudha ji’s contribution in diverse fields including social work, philanthropy and education has been immense and inspiring.
Ms. Murty, 73, A graduate in Computer Science engineering from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc.), she was the first woman engineer at Tata Engineering and Locomotive Company (TELCO), which is now Tata Motors. She’s married to N. R. Narayana Murthy, co-founder, Infosys. She chaired the Infosys Foundation for over two decades, and through the foundation carried out several philanthropic activities. She is a renowned author and motivational speaker in both Kannada and English. Her books for children have been bestsellers. She was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2023. Her daughter Akshata Murthy is married to U.K. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
Last year Sudha Murthy visited the Parliament House for the first time. Sudha Murthy spoke to the media after seeing the old and new Parliament buildings. While talking to ANI, he had praised the beauty of the Parliament. She had said, “It’s so beautiful… There are no words to describe. I wanted to see it for a long time. Today was like a dream come true. It’s beautiful… It’s art.” Culture, Indian history – everything is beautiful…”
Sudha Murthy has expressed happiness on being nominated for Rajya Sabha. He has said that he is not in India at the moment but this is a big gift for him on Women’s Day. Working for the country is a new responsibility. He has thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Sudha Murthy is the chairperson of Infosys Foundation as well as a teacher and writer. He has written many books. He was born on 19 August 1950 in Shigaon. She married Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy in 1978. They have a daughter, Akshara Murthy, who is the wife of British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. Sudha Murthy’s son’s name is Rohan Murthy. He was awarded Padma Shri on the occasion of 74th Republic Day.
Infosys co-founder N. R. Narayana Murthy’s wife is also the chairperson of ‘Murthy Trust’ and has written several books. Murthy is 73 years old and her nomination to the Upper House of Parliament came on International Women’s Day. He was awarded Padma Shri in the year 2006 and Padma Bhushan in 2023.
Sudha Murthy remains busy in social service. According to media reports, his net worth is around Rs 775 crore. His annual income is said to be Rs 300 crore. She is also the mother of Akshara Murthy, wife of British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. She is considered a very powerful woman. However, even after this she lives very simply.
