New faces of “saffron management” announced
NEW DELHI : Ahead of Bihar polls, BJP Management , on Saturday, released the list of new National office bearers of the saffron party. Several younger leaders like an MP from Karnatak Tajasvi Surya have been elevated to BJP Yuva Morcha chief.
With dates of Assembly elections nearing in states like Bihar, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Gujarat, and Himachal Pradesh, etc, JP Nadda may give a chance to new faces from these states as part of BJP’s strategy.
The BJP has also reshuffled its national spokespersons – dropping leaders like Poonam Mahajan, G V.L Narasimha Rao and Meenakshi Lekhi. This is the first time Nadda has rejigged the team, since taking over as party president from Amit Shah in January. Senior leaders and ex-CMs like – Raman Singh, Vasundhara Raje, Raghubar Das have been retained as state Vice-presidents,
Maintaining more or less the same team as Shah, Nadda has reshuffled key players among states. Ahead of the crucial Madhya Pradesh by-polls, BJP has retained its senior Kailash Vijaywargiya as party General secretary from Madhya Pradesh – in stiff opposition to newly joined Jyotiraditya Scindia.
While Nadda has retained seniors like Bhupender Yadav, C.T Ravi, Arun Singh, he has dropped several others from Shah’s team like Ram Madhav, P Muralidhar Rao, Anil Jain, Saroj Pandey as general secretaries with new faces as party’s office bearers.
Union Minister Prakash Javadekar has been also dropped as party national spokesperson, while his cabinet peer Dharmendra Pradhan has been dropped as party general secretary.
Taking to Twitter, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the new team and wrote, “Congratulations and best wishes to the new team. I am confident they will uphold the glorious tradition of our Party of serving the people of India selflessly and with dedication. May they work hard to empower the poor and marginalised.”
Party leaders Mukul Roy and Baijayant Panda have been appointed as BJP’s vice-presidents. They are among the 12 vice-presidents of the BJP.
The list of eight general secretaries, crucial organisation position in the party as they are the link between state and central leadership, has five new faces with Bhupender Yadav, Arun Singh and Kailash Vijayvargiya being retained.
Dushyant Kumar Gautam, D Purandareshwaei, C T Ravi, Tarun Chugh and Dilip Saikia are new choices as general secretaries. The party has also expanded its list of spokesperson to 23, with MP Anil Baluni being elevated as the chief spokesperson and remaining its media head.
The new spokespersons include Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Sanju Verma, Iqbal Singh Lalpura, Aparajita Sarangi, Heena Gavit, M Kikon, Nupur Sharma, Raju Bisht and KK Sharma.
The new appointments were announced by JP Nadda in a reorganisation that party sources had said was aimed at combining young people, women as well as experienced faces.
Radha Mohan Singh, Mukul Roy, Rekha Verma, Annapurna Devi, Bharti Shiyal, DK Aruna, M Chuba Ao, AP Abdullakutty were appointed national vice presidents in the reshuffle.
Other appointments include K Laxman as head of the OBC (Other Backward Classes) Morcha, Jamal Siddiqui as chief of the minority wing and Lal Singh Arya as chief of the SC (Scheduled Castes) Morcha.
Ram Madhav reacted to the new appointments on Twitter, saying, “Congratulations to the newly appointed office-bearers of d BJP. Grateful to the party leadership for providing me d opportunity to serve for one term as Gen Sec.
Nadda was about to announce his new team in February, but got delayed as he grew busy with preparations for his son’s wedding Nadda’s son Girish recently tied the knot in Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh. Kangana Ranaut’s sister and manager Rangoli Chandel was among the attendees of the event.
As per reports, Girish Nadda, who is the elder of the politicians’ two sons, got married to Rajasthan-based Prachi. The wedding had taken place on Tuesday and the event on Friday was ‘Vadhu Pravesh’ to welcome the bride.
