IRCTC to restart luxury train Golden Chariot on March 22
NEW DELHI : IRCTC, the online ticket booking arm of the Indian Railways, has decided to resume the services of its luxury train Golden Chariot on March 22 after a gap of few years.
IRCTC took over the operation, management and marketing of the special train through a recent agreement with Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC), which launched the Golden Chariot train in 2008.
“The Golden Chariot is again going to hit the tracks in a new look and feel on an exciting week long itinerary. IRCTC has planned three trips of Golden Chariot on ‘Pride of Karnataka’ itinerary on March 22, March 29 and April 12, 2020.
Worth mentioning here is that IRCTC has taken over the operation, management and marketing of the luxury train from the Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC). Golden Chariot train was initially launched in 2008.
“The Golden Chariot is again going to hit the tracks in a new look and feel on an exciting week long itinerary. IRCTC has planned three trips of Golden Chariot on ‘Pride of Karnataka’ itinerary on March 22, March 29 and April 12, 2020,” IRCTC said.
The train now boasts of several new features, including newly upholstered furniture, elegant drapery, renovated rooms and bathrooms, crockery and cutlery of reputed international brands and fresh linen to attract international passengers.
Tourists will have access to smart TVs with a variety of Wi-Fi-enabled subscriptions of streaming sites, including Netflix, Amazon and Hotstar. CCTV cameras and fire alarm systems have been installed for additional safety.
“Experienced chefs have created menus presenting an eclectic mix of mouth watering international as well as domestic fare. The package now comes with selected home made beverages included in the cost with a host of spirits on offer. The guests can continue to enjoy relaxing spa therapies at the onboard spa which has also been provided with modern workout machines for the fitness enthusiasts,” IRCTC said.
The 7-days/6-nights tour package on Golden Chariot will cost Rs 2,99,130 for each adult for double occupancy. Ticket for single supplement will cost Rs 2,24,350. For foreign tourists, this cost would be $4,200 and $3,150 respectively.
However, under a promotional offer, IRCTC is offering complimentary pre or post hotel accommodation along with transfer. IRCTC is also offering 50% discount on the second passenger’s ticket fare and $150 redeemable voucher.
Additionally, IRCTC allows deboarding enroute for shorter itineraries. If you avail 4-day or 5-day or 6-day package, you can deboard at Hampi or Badami or Goa respectively. In such a case, cost of the tour may be reduced by 10%.
“The luxury train tour package cost is inclusive of all onboard meals, guided excursions in air-conditioned buses, monument entry fee and meals at outside venues as per the itinerary,” IRCTC said.
