With Anna, Mamata set to begin her quest for a success story at Ram Lila Maidan tomorrow
KOLKATA : As Mamata Banerjee’s plan to politically invade north India from Delhi tomorrow with Anna Hazare by her side, her rally in historic Ram Lila Maidan, gets wild speculations afoot in all quarters and beyond Bengal.
According to party sources, West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee’s expectations of a success story in Ram Lila Maidan tomorrow “is great.’’
Party insiders said: “It isn’t a normal time, it’s a crisis time in Indian politics which visited and re-visited the historic Ram Lila Maidan, which often predicted changes in national politics.’’Mamata, who however left for Delhi late afternoon today confident and kept her expectations a secret, told reporters nothing about her rally but spoke about a local candidate’s success!
The political observers here see Mamata Banerjee’s “best bet is presence of Anna Hazare whose introducing her to a large north Indian audience would become weapon for her to roll out political tirades against political opponents for whom even Anna Hazare may not have many good words to offer, on the issue of corruption and failed Congress-led UPA II Government and BJP’s communal face.’’
Ironically, yet Mamata Banerjee’s Bengal success story got a little blotched up with her failure to keep the Hills with her with all her development and peace plank as Gorkha Jan Mukti Morcha (GJMM) signed up with the BJP.
“It’s not a political failure on our part which will affect our image outside Bengal, but it only reflected GJMM’s illegitimate ambition for a separate state,’’ said a top leader, disagreeing with observers. But success or failure tomorrow, it will certainly script Mamata Banerjee’s future political adventures outside Bengal, though CPI(M), Congress and BJP here ignore it.
