NEW DELHI : Ahead of his highly-anticipated swearing-in ceremony where Narendra Modi will take oath as the Prime Minister of India for the second consecutive term, PM Modi began his day early in the morning by visiting the samadhis of Mahatma Gandhi and former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leaders including Amit Shah and JP Nadda were also present.
Earlier today, Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth and Bhutan Prime Minister Lotay Tshering, among the first of many foreign dignitaries, arrived in Delhi to attend the oath taking ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan at 7 pm.
In what is being viewed as a strategic move to snub Pakistan, the government has invited leaders of BIMSTEC countries to attend the swearing-in. Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, President of Bangladesh Abdul Hamid, Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena, President of Myanmar U Win Myint and Bhutanese Prime Minister Lotay Tshering will be part of the historic moment, including Thailand’s special envoy Grisada Boonrach.
Sadanand Gowda, Arjun Ram Meghwal, Narendra Singh Tomar, Prakash Javadekar, Ravi Shankar Prasad, Ramdas Athawale, Piyush Goyal, Kailash Chawdhry, Kiran Rijiju, Jitender Singh, Mansukh Mandviya, Nishankh, Nitin Gadkari, Ram Chandra Prasad (JDU), Sushma Swaraj, Debosree Chaudhuri, Kunar Hebram, Rajyvardhan Rathore, Ramesh Pokhriyal, Shripad Naik, Purshottam Rupala, Babul Supriyo, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Smriti Irani, Nirmala Sitharaman, Dharmendra Pradhan, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Som Prakash, Rattan Lal Kataria, Nityanand Rai, P Raveendrananth Kumar of the AIADMK, Prahlad Patel, Suresh Angadi, Kishen Reddy, Kisan pal Gujjar, Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti, Giriraj Singh,Prahlad Joshi,Akali Dal, Harsimrat Kaur are among the leaders who have got a call from the BJP leadership as speculations are rife on who will get which ministry in the Modi Cabinet.
“I think Ram Vilas Paswan, Anupriya Patel and Arvind Sawant will also get a chance to serve the nation,” Athawale had said earlier in the day. BJP president Amit Shah has made calls to leaders who will be ministers in the new government. They have been invited to the PM’s home at 5 pm, before the swearing-in.
