My Father Balbir Jakhar paid Arvind Kejriwal Rs 6 crores for ticket: candidate’s son
NEW DELHI : With just a day to go for the crucial Lok Sabha elections in Delhi, a major controversy has erupted within the Aam Aadmi Party after the son of an AAP candidate on Saturday claimed that his father paid AAP national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal a sum of Rs 6 crores to get a ticket.
Aam Aadmi Party’s West Delhi candidate Balbir Singh Jakhar’s son Uday Jakhar made explosive claims that his father had paid Kejriwal the amount for the ticket. “He had told me that he had paid Kejriwal Rs 6 crores and I had warned him to not do such a thing and align with a the tukde-tukde gang. The bribe was one of the problems,” Uday told.
He continued his attack on Kejriwal and said that the Delhi CM portrays a ‘clean image’ and said that it is an allegation against him.“A person who has portrayed a clean image, Mr Arvind Kejriwal, who stands with Anna Hazare, bringer of hope for India and New Delhi, this is an allegation on him…that he has sold out West Delhi for Rs 6 crore,” he said.
He went on to allege, “The more shocking part is that Kejriwal, who was party of the Anti-Corruption movement, is so corrupt and taking money.” While expressing fear that he might be expelled from his family, Uday accused his father of not helping out with finances for his education but making sure he spent crores of rupees to bail out 1984 anti-Sikh riots accused Sajjan Kumar and “pay Kejriwal” for a Lok Sabha ticket.
Balbir Jakhar later publicly clarified his stand and said that he does not stay with his estranged son ever since his divorce with his wife. He added that he speaks to his son rarely and has not spoken to him anything about his candidature.
He stays at his maternal parents’ home from the time of his birth and I divorced my wife in 2009. She stayed with me for only 6-7 months. His custody was granted to my wife after the divorce.

Uday added that this was not the only thing he wanted to tell the world to clear his conscience. He alleged that his father was among those who tried to save Congress leader Sajjan Kumar, who was sentenced to life term by the Delhi High Court in a 1984 anti-Sikh riots case.
“My father also decided to represent Sajjan Kumar in court. He was paid huge amount to bail him out,” Uday claimed.(with Agency Inputs ).
