Man who threatening Priyanka Chaturvedi’s daughter arrested
MUMBAI : Police arrested one Girish Maheshwari, who had allegedly threatened Congress spokesperson Priyanka Chaturvedi on Twitter, two days after the Union Home Ministry directed the Mumbai Police to file a case against the person.
Mr. Maheshwari had allegedly issued rape threats against Ms. Chaturvedi’s 10-year old daughter from his twitter handle @GirishK1605, which was subsequently deleted after his tweet created outrage on social media.“One person named Girish has been arrested and being taken to Mumbai,” a police official from Ahmedabad said.
The Delhi Police had also filed an FIR in the case after receiving a complaint from Ms. Chaturvedi.After the tweet, Ms. Chaturvedi had separately approached police in Mumbai and Delhi seeking action against the twitter user. Later in the day, she thanked Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Delhi and Mumbai Police for arresting the culprit. (The Hindu).
