Congress Gets Dy.CM, Speaker in political transaction in K’tka
NEW DELHI/ BANGALURU : Karnataka state Congress President G Parameshwara would be the Deputy Chief Minister and Congress’s K R Ramesh Kumar would be the Speaker of Karnataka’s Vidhana Soudha in the Janata Dal(Secular)-Congress coalition government.
Congress member K C Venugopal said, “Congress-JD(S) leaders met and discussed about the cabinet formation, out of 34 ministries, 22 ministries will go with Congress Party and 12 ministries, including CM will be with be with JD(S). Portfolio allocation to be decided after floor test.”
The Congress-Janata Dal (Secular) coalition government. Kumaraswamy will take oath on Wednesday at 4:30 pm at Vidhan Soudha in Bengaluru. Governor Vajubhai Vala will administer the oath of office and secrecy to Kumaraswamy, according to a government release.
The swearing-in was earlier scheduled to be held on Monday but was later postponed as it coincided with former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s death anniversary.
Karnataka will have its second chief minister in a week as Janata Dal Secular chief HD Kumaraswamy takes oath tomorrow along with his deputy, Congress’ G Parameshwara. There was no word on whether there would be a second deputy for Mr Kumaraswamy – a Congress plan on which the two parties did not appear to be on the same page.
The crucial meeting was held after a green signal from Congress President Rahul Gandhi, whom Mr Kumaraswamy met in Delhi yesterday. The agenda also included the matter of deputies as well as the power-sharing formula. Mr Gandhi, however, left the decisions on these issues to the state leaders, said Mr Venugopal, who was present at the meeting.
Mr Gandhi and his mother Sonia Gandhi will be in Bengaluru tomorrow for the oath of Mr Kumaraswamy. The ceremony will be attended by a chunk of key opposition leaders, including chief ministers of four states.( With Agency Inputs ).
