Another rape case in Haryana, 20-year-old gang raped at home
CHANDIGRAH : At a time when Haryana is already facing a flak for the law and order condition in the state owing to multiple cases of crime against women, another case of rape has surfaced in the state.
A 20-year-old woman was allegedly gangraped in Bhuthan village in Fatehabad while she was alone in her house on Wednesday. The victim filed a complaint that two men raped her at her house. She was sent for medical examination.
A case has been registered under various section of the IPC and a special team has been formed to nab the accused. “The accused will be arrested as soon as possible. A special team has been formed to nab the accused,” Fatehabad Women Police Station SHO Bimla Devi said.
In the wake of rising cases of rapes and murders reported from different parts of Haryana, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had on Wednesday transferred three IG level officers and an SHO in the state.
“Such incidents are unfortunate. We’ll take strict action and tie up all loose ends. We have made changes in the police administration and have transferred a few officers,” CM Khattar had said.
He also stated that the state government has taken a lot of steps to ensure the safety of women. “We started ‘Dial 100 Project’, will also begin ‘1090 Project’ so women in danger can immediately contact police. We’ll look into matters, take help of counselling or legal action as the need be. We’ve set up special courts for speedy trials of such cases.” he said.
The woman alleged in her police complaint that she was raped by her neighbour and another person yesterday. She alleged that the two accused barged into her house when she was alone. The victim was also allegedly threatened with dire consequences if she reported the matter to anyone. The woman had got married six months back.
“We have registered a case of rape against her neighbour and other co-accused. The accused have also been booked under other relevant provisions of the law. They will be arrested soon,” Fatehabad’s SP Deepak Saharan said over phone today.
Haryana has recently witnessed many cases of rape. On Tuesday, a 14-year-old boy had allegedly raped a 3-year-old girl in a colony in Hisar. A 15-year-old girl’s half-naked body was found on Saturday from near the bank of a canal in a village in Jind district after she had gone missing last Tuesday from her village in Kurukshetra district. The girl was brutally assaulted, her private parts mutilated and some of the vital organs ruptured, police said.
In a separate incident, an 11-year-old girl was raped and killed in Panipat last week.Alleging complete breakdown of law and order machinery, the opposition Congress has sought dismissal of the Khattar government in the state and imposition of President’s Rule.
