India win 1st ODI against New Zealand in Dharamshala
DHARAMSHALA : Bowlers set up India’s comprehensive six-wicket win over New Zealand in the first one-day international as batting mainstay Virat Kohli anchored the hosts’ chase in the low-scoring encounter in Dharamsala on Sunday.
Kohli scored an unbeaten 85 to help the hosts canter home in 33.1 overs after debutant Hardik Pandya and Amit Mishra took three wickets each to bowl out New Zealand for 190.
India beat New Zealand by 6 wickets in the first One Day Cricket International at Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh.
Earlier India chose to field after winning the toss. Indian bowlers run riot, claiming 7 New Zealand wickets with the visitors’ score card reading 65. Tom Latham who remained unbeaten with 79 fought the battle against bowlers with T G Southee 55, to bring the visitors’ score to 190 all out in 43.5 overs.
For India, Hardik Pandya who made his ODI debut and Amit Mishra claimed three wickets each.
Umesh Yadav and K.M.Jadhav equally shared the remaining four wickets. Team India will look forward to carry on their dominance over New Zealand in the five match ODI series after sweeping the Test series three-nil.
