PV Sindhu Snubs Minister’s Offer, Says Gopichand ‘My Best Coach’

?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????HYDERABAD: PV Sindhu, badminton silver medallist at 2016 Rio Olympics, in an exclusive interview to NDTV cleared all air about her preference of a coach in her future endeavours.”For me, Gopichand is my best coach. Don’t want to comment on what minister said,” she said.

Sindhu’s comments come after an excited Mehmood Ali, Telangana deputy chief minister, on Monday had said: “We are planning to give Sindhu proper training with foreign coach so that she can fetch gold next time.” PV Sindhu lost to Carolina Marin in the women’s singles final at Rio Olympics to settle for the silver medal. Before this Saina Nehwal’s bronze medal win was the best finish by an Indian badminton player at Olympics.

Sindhu and her long-time coach Gopichand are still yet to cope with the numerous congratulatory messages and felicitations.”The celebrations were hectic. It was great and want to thank the governments of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana,” Sindhu said.

However, Gopichand said that to achieve more Olympics medals, the system available to athletes need to improve.”We don’t have a great system. Medals are a byproduct of a good system. It’s not about a small group,” he said.
