PoK is ours and time has come to expose Islamabad’s atrocities

kashmir2NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday chaired an all party meeting to discuss the situation in Jammu and Kashmir which had witnessed violent protests following the killing of militant Burhan Wani in which scores of people were killed and injured.

“Like every Indian, I’m also deeply pained by the recent incidents that have taken place in Jammu & Kashmir, PM Modi said at the all party meeting. Must be sympathetic towards Kashmiris but can’t compromise on national security: etHe said every Kashmiri wants peace and has faith in democracy but at the same time the government must ensure there is no compromise on national security.

“This is why, despite warnings from some separatists elements, people of J&K showed their faith in democratic principles during polls,” he said.“It is responsibility of every Govt to maintain law and order. There cannot be any compromise on national security,” he added.PM Modi favoured a dialogue with the people of the state in order to “win over their confidence”.

He said that his government is committed to a stable and peaceful solution to the issue of Jammu and Kashmir. In a stern message to Islamabad, PM Modi said the time has come for Pakistan to answer the world on atrocities against the people in Balochistan and PoK. Addressing the media after the meeting, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said that PM has said the time has come for Pakistan to answer the world on atrocities against the people in Balochistan and PoK.

Mr  Modi has asserted that Pakistan Occupied Kashmir(PoK) is ours as much as Jammu, Kashmir Valley and Ladakh. He asked the External Affairs Ministry to contact residents of PoK staying abroad and get information from them about the pathetic conditions in PoK and let the world know the fact.

He said terrorism has adversely affected common life in Kashmir and time has come to expose Pakistan’s atrocities in PoK and Balochistan.  Addressing an all party meeting in New Delhi on prevailing situation in Kashmir valley, Mr. Modi said the main cause of unrest is cross-border terrorism emanating from the neighbouring country. He reiterated government’s commitment for peaceful and permanent solution of Kashmir issue as per the basic principles of the Constitution.

He said India is open minded and its doors are always open and it has been following the path shown by Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The Prime Minister added the Islamabad will never be able to convince the world with its blatant lies.The Prime Minister said every Kashmiri wants peace and has full faith in democracy and that is why the number of those affected by the disinformation campaign launched by some elements is very less.

He expressed sympathy with the bereaved families who lost their near and dear ones whether they are civilians or security forces. Mr. Modi said despite facing planned attacks, security forces have observed maximum restraint and they have suffered more.He said certain restrictions have been imposed in some areas to maintain law and order. Mr. Modi assured that Centre and state governments will address the genuine complaints of the people but at the same time, violence, terrorism and anti national activities will be dealt with sternly.

Later talking to reporters, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said there is no decision about sending all-party delegation to Jammu and Kashmir as of now. He said security forces have been asked to maintain utmost restraint. On talks with separatists, Mr. Jaitley the government will evaluate the prevailing situation before taking any any decision in this regard.

The Minister said any decision on banning pellet guns will be taken after evaluation of expert committee report. Home Minister Rajnath Singh said the Centre has already announced a development package of over 80 crore rupees for the overall development of state and the fund is being released. During the meeting, political parties impressed upon the government to immediately start confidence building measures to restore normalcy in valley. They also also favoured to hold talks with all stakeholders.

Opposition parties also demanded to ban the use of pellet guns against the protesters.CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury sought immediate start of a dialogue with all stakeholders to restore normalcy in the valley. He urged the the government to take a series of confidence-building measures to quell the ongoing unrest there. CPI leader D Raja said during the meeting, the Left parties reiterated their demand that the use of pellet guns by security forces be stopped.
