PM asks people with undisclosed income to come clean by Sep 30
NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed to people with undisclosed income to come clean by 30th September. Addressing the Nation on his monthly Mann Ki Baat programme in All India Radio, he said this is the last opportunity for such people.
He assured that there will be no probe against persons those who disclose their income willingly. The Prime Minister wondered how there can only be 1.5 lakh people with a taxable income over 50 lakh rupees in a country of a billion people.
Mr Modi said, in his recent interaction with Revenue Department officials, he had asked them to build an atmosphere of trust with tax payers.Reminding people with the imposition of Emergency on this day in 1975, the Prime minister described it as a dark day for Indian democracy . Mr Modi said, nation must not forget that dark period as it is a stark reminder that country’s strength is individual and collective power of people. He said, a nation must move forward through people’s participation.
Expressing happiness at the forecast of a good monsoon this year, Mr Modi said farmers suffered for the past two years due to below average rainfall and drought. He said news of rainfall coming from various parts of the country for the last two weeks have re energised the farmers.
The Prime Minister urged people to save every drop of water and take measures for water conservation. He recounted the experience of Santosh Negi from Pauri Garhwal who has effectively harvested rainwater by digging pits around a school playground.
The Prime Minister congratulated the three women fighter pilots who were the first to be inducted in the Indian Air Force. Expressing satisfaction that the message of Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao has reached across the nation, Mr Modi said it is inspiring that all three pilots hailed from small towns.
On International Yoga Day being celebrated across the world with much fanfare, Mr Modi said it is a matter of pride for India. The Prime Minister urged people to share their experiences in tackling diabetes using Yoga through hashtag Yoga Fights Diabetes.
He called upon Yog Gurus of different schools of thought to come together in order to fight Diabetes and generate momentum. He said, United Nations Headquarters in New York had arranged a special projection of various yoga postures which immediately caught global attention. He said, Twitter had also come up with a special Yoga emoji, which was widely used along with the Yoga Day hashtag.
The Prime Minister congratulated ISRO for setting a new record by launching 20 satellites in a single launch. He also expressed pride at the energy and enthusiasm of students from Pune College of Engineering, whom he met yesterday and also Sathyabhama University who created academic satellites.
