BJP’s Meet With eyes on UP elections
NEW DELHI: : On the second day of its National Executive meeting here on Monday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is likely to chalk out strategy for the upcoming assembly elections in five states, including Uttar Pradesh.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is in the city to attend the meeting, will address a public rally here around 4 PM.Senior Cabinet ministers, chief ministers of BJP-ruled states, party MPs and other senior leaders who are participating in the conclave are likely to chalk out winning formula for the next round of assembly elections in five states – Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Goa.
With eye on next year’s assembly polls in five states, including Uttar Pradesh, and on “Mission 2019”, PM Modi on Sunday exhorted BJP party workers to preserve the massive goodwill the party received in 2014 till the next general elections.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Amit Shah, in his speech, trained his guns at the state’s Samajwadi Party government and raised the issue of alleged “migration” of Hindus from Kairana, in Shamli district, and the recent Mathura violence.
The Prime Minister, addressing a meeting of party office bearers in Allahabad before the official inauguration of the party’s two-day National Executive meet, said: “The need of the hour is to preserve the massive goodwill that the party got in 2014, like a monsoon downpour,” according to a BJP leader, who attended the office bearers meet.
The Prime Minister also asked the party leaders to preserve its 11 crore members.Meanwhile, in an economic resolution passed on Sunday night, the BJP said India has emerged as the growing economy under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi amidst global slowdown and two years’ of successive drought.
In an economic resolution passed at its national executive meeting at Allahabad last night, the party expressed confidence that there will be a transformation in the lives of the poor.
The party attributed the new growth story to extensive and persistent efforts by the Modi government and its prudent policies. It said economic experts, think tanks, multilateral institutions and reputed media have acknowledged India’s growth story and hailed various schemes and initiatives of the government.
