Lalit Modi drops bombshell, says met Priyanka and Robert Vadra in London last year
NEW DELHI: Former IPL chief Lalit Modi on Thursday night dropped a bombshell saying he met Priyanka Gandhi and Robert Vadra in London last year.
Taking it to micro blogging site, in a series of tweets, Modi said, “Happy to meet the Gandhi Family in London. I had run into Robert and Priyanka separately in a resturant – they were with Timmy Sarna. He has my no. They can call me. Will tell them what I feel about them exactly. Will mince no words. Will make no deal. But tell them witch hunt will now make them realize I was.”
He further added, “If I remember correctly it was last year and the year before. Doubt either reported it to anyone. They were in power then.”
Responding to Modi’s claims, speaking to a news agency ANI, Congress’s spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said, “Neither Priyanka Gandhi nor Robert Vadra have ever interacted socially with Lalit Modi. If you see an individual in a restaurant full of people, it is neither a crime nor it is morally wrong.”
Meanwhile, BJP leader Sambit Patra questioned why Gandhi family is in constant touch with Lalit Modi?
Speaking to ANI, he said, “Certain tweets are coming to light, we have come to learn that Lalit Modi had a meeting with Gandhi family. We want to ask as to why Gandhi family is in constant touch of Lalit Modi? This raises a serious question.”
A defiant Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje coupled with sharpening attacks form the Opposition continued to keep the ruling BJP in a fix. However, putting up a brave front in the wake of the growing Opposition chorus for the resignation of Raje and Sushma, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Thursday told the media, “Well, there is nobody who is tainted please”.
Another senior minister, M Venkaiah Naidu, said the Narendra Modi government was working in the “most honest and transparent” manner and blamed some “unhappy people” for the outcry over Raje’s help to the former IPL boss.
