IAS imposter case: Ruby Choudhary arrested by Uttarakhand Police
MUSSOORIE: The Dehradun Police has arrested Ruby Choudhary, accused of posing as a trainee IAS officer and illegally staying at the prestigious Lal Bahadur Shastri Administrative Academy in Mussoorie.The arrest came after, Ruby on Friday accused authorities of shielding deputy director of the academy Saurabh Jain and threatened to commit suicide if she did not get justice.
Alleging a collective effort by the authorities to save the influential IAS officer the woman dared Jain to come out in the open if he was not wrong and demanded an objective probe into the whole episode.The husband of Ruby Choudhary said on Friday that his family was kept in the dark about his wife’s claim of being a trainee at the prestigious academy in Mussoorie.
Giving a detailed account about his wife, Ruby’s husband Virender Malik said that her family had lied to his parents that she was a trainee with the IAS academy.Malik demanded a probe into his wife’s role and professionals working with the prestigious institute.In what is termed as a major security breach, Ruby had stayed at the prestigious institute, a place among top targets of terrorists, for over six months without the knowledge of the authorities.
The sensational claims were made after Ruby said that Malik and her uncle knew everything and were supportive of her.
She also alleged that police were not registering her complaint.Ruby today maintained that she was introduced to Academy’s deputy director Saurabh Jain by Minister of State for Textiles Santosh Gangwar’s personal assistant at Delhi’s Vigyan Bhawan.Jain, accused of assisting ‘imposter’ Ruby, has denied all the allegations and maintained that the woman is a fraud.
Jain’s stern response came after Ruby on Thursday claimed that an official had issued her a fake identity card to assist her in securing accommodation at the facility.While rejecting all the charges made by Ruby, Jain said that he will file a criminal conspiracy case against the lady.
The deputy director of the prestigious academy said that he has given his report to Muzaffarnagar District Magistrate in relation to the case.Ruby has alleged that Jain had helped her in getting the fake identity card. She has further claimed that she had paid a bribe of Rs 5 lakh to Jain for securing the job of librarian at the institute.The woman maintained that she was assured of job, but got nothing and was instead framed.
She admitted committing a mistake, but also demanded action against academy officials who were at fault.Ruby had also said that she was offered Rs 5 crore as bribe to keep her mouth shut.The civil service recruits training academy learnt about the woman and her prolonged stay at the institute when she had already left on March 27, Dehradun SSP Pushpak Jyoti told a news agency.
The matter came to light when administrative officer of the institute Satyavir Singh lodged an FIR in this connection at Mussoorie police station Tuesday, the SSP said.According to the FIR, the woman hailing from Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh had arrived at the academy on September 20 and introduced herself as Ruby Choudhary, a trainee IAS officer, and stayed there for a little over six months before mysteriously disappearing on March 27, the official said.
According to the SSP said a special team headed by Mussoorie police inspector Chandan Singh Bisht has been constituted to find out how the woman gained entry into the high security academy and managed to stay there for so long without the knowledge of the authorities.During her stay at the academy Ruby used to frequent the library.
Documents seized from the room where she stayed are being closely investigated, police said, adding that the team constituted by the Uttarakhand Police will first interrogate Satyavir Singh who lodged the FIR in this connection.
