AAP rift: Ashutosh says Prashant Bhushan threatened to destroy party
NEW DELHI: In another big revelation exposing fissures in Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), party leader Ashutosh on Sunday said that Prashant Bhushan once threatened to destroy the party, demanding Arvind Kejriwal’s resignations as party’s convener.
Speaking to ANI, Ashutosh said that many questions were raised on Arvind during a party meeting earlier, he got up to respond, but broke into tears instead.
“Kejriwal said – I fought against Robert Vadra, Ambani and Narendra Modi, but I can’t fight with my own people,” Ashutosh was quoted as saying by ANI.
Accusing the party rebels of conspiring against Kejriwal, he said, “We didn’t want this issue to go into public, but efforts were being made to remove Arvind from convener’s post,” adding, “Around August-September Prashantji wrote to Arvind in strong words that he will hold a press conference and destroy the party, if he does not resign and Yogendra Yadav is not made party convener.”
He also said that when Arvind broke into tears, he went back home, held discussions with his family and decided to quit politics.
“Prashantji and Yogendraji came to his house and it was unanimously decided later in national executive meeting that Arvind can take decisions till Delhi polls. I was told by Ashish Khetan and some other party members that Prashantji is openly saying that AAP should not at all win Delhi polls,” he said.
Meanwhile, another AAP leader Manish Sisodia said, “In national executive meet a decision was taken that there will be no bickering, ‘tu tu mai mai’ wont be propagated.”
