KOLKATA: The data and facts presented in the third supplementary chargesheet filed by the CBI is a graphic chronicle of a true story of ‘corruption incorporated’ at the highest political level in West Bengal.
According to the charge sheet, the Abhishek Banerjee who has been named in the managerial work related to irregular appointment of ineligible candidates in the teacher recruitment scam, is he Abhishek Banerjee, nephew of the state Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and TMC MP?
Indications indicate that the needle of suspicion is pointed towards Mamata Banerjee….? All these scams were done in M/s Leaps and Bounds Private Limited. Abhishek Banerjee is named as one of its key officials. The chaos prevailing in the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the Chief Minister’s Office ) CMO) after its revelations shows that something is wrong…? The managerial work related with the irregular appointment of the undeserving candidates in teachers Recruitment scam in Bengal was mostly done in the office of M/s Leaps and Bounds Pvt limited.. The chaos prevailing in the Trinamool Congress and the Chief Minister’s Office after its revelations shows that something is wrong…?In fact , the CBI document of 28 pages is loaded with a plethora of data that clearly points that the full scam was done in the corporate model inside the sanctum sanctorum of M/s Leaps and Bounds Pvt limited.
Ironiacally this corporate model has also left a huge paper and online trail that has given arsenal to the CBI charge against corruption in the high places in Bengal. To cite one significant clue as unearthed by CBI sleuths is that a part of the list of the undeserved candidates who had paid bribe has sent to Ms. Sushmita Chakorvarty, the receptionist of Leaps and Bounds at popinss850@gmail.com and which was then forwarded to Sujay Krisna Bhadra, one of the prime accused in Teacher Recruitment Scam at his mail ID sujayk.bhadra@gmail.com.The list mentioned above has 157 names.
CBI has asserted in the charge sheet that the Secretary of West Bengal Board of Primary Education (WBBPE) has confirmed that 51 undeserving candidates out of the list of 157 has been illegally appointed as Primary Teachers! Incidentally, Bhadra was a high ranking functionary, i.e. COO of Leaps And Bounds. Interestingly, all the facts and figures as well as data related with the list of candidates and detailed estimate of bribe money received from the undeserved candidates were openly transferred between different agents through e mail. Thus the Data related with this daring operation is not encrypted at all.Bhadra also forwarded four emails containing another list of 85 non-qualified candidates of TET 2014 to another perpetrator Aurobinda Roy Barman for ensuring illegal appointment in exchange for a bribe. The Secretary of WBBPE has confirmed that 10 out of those candidates have illegally appointed as Primary Teachers. It has transpired in thg course of investigation by CBI as mentioned in the charge sheet that as per the direction of Bhadra two sub agents, Amitabh Dutta and Anirudhha collected bribe of 1 cr as advance from those 85 non qualified candidates for their appointment as Primary Teacher.
The charge sheet is a clear pointer to the corruption in the highest level of the state government, that is, the ministerial chamber of some senior member of the state cabinet like the then Education Minister Partha Chatterjee. As per the charge sheet the Secretary, DISTRICT PRIMARY SCHOOL COUNCIL, Hooghly has revealed no ‘Broad Sheet/ Input Sheet ‘ of large number candidates was received and DPSC has not even conducted any ‘interview’ of nearly 70 candidates, as Partha and TMC MLA Manik Bhattacharya had directed the Chairperson of DPSC, Hooghly to immediately issue appointment to the candidates and cautioned that no publicity to be made.CBI in the charge sheet just mentioned the name Abhishek Banerjee and also named Leaps and bounds as Abhishek Banerjee ‘ s office. But the agency never clarified the identity of this ‘Abhishek Banerjee’.
However, all the senior leaders in the major opposition parties in the state, be it Congress or BJP or CPM are alleging this name is an exact match to the name of chief minister Mamata Banerjee’s nephew and Trinamool Congress national general secretary, against whom the state’s political opposition has, in the past, repeatedly alleged involvement in the scam. Meanwhile Cm Mamta’s Banerjee’s nephew and TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee on Wednesday accused the CBI of “harassing” him after his name was apparently referred in its third supplementary chargesheet in the government school teachers’ recruitment scam.Reacting to these claims, Mr Banerjee’s counsel Sanjay Basu said the the charge is ‘misleading and unsubstantiated’ as made in the latest CBI chargesheet.To be noted, at the initial stage of the central agency probe Sujay Krishna Bhadra said on record that no one could dare to touch his “boss”. When asked about his boss he said “Abhisek Banerjee”!
