Top court rejects Karti’s plea for interim protection from arrest by ED
NEW DELHI : The Supreme Court has refused to grant Karti Chidambaram interim protection from arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in an alleged money laundering case related to INX Media.

Ssenior Congress leader P Chidambaram’s son Karti Chidambaram, arrested by the CBI last week on charges of corruption, the Supreme Court today declined to pass an interim order on the businessman’s petition seeking protection from being arrested by the Enforcement Directorate. The case will be taken up by the top court again on Thursday.
Karti Chidambaram, 46, had approached the Supreme Court yesterday seeking cancellation of summons by the Enforcement Directorate. A bench headed by Chief Justice Dipak Misra while issuing notice to the Enforcement Directorate said passing an interim order will affect other pending cases.
The former Finance Minister P Chidambaram’s son is being investigated by the CBI, for allegedly asking a bribe to use his father’s influence to regularise investments made by a television company, INX media group a decade earlier. Indrani and husband Peter Mukerjea, both of them in jail for the murder of Indrani’s daughter Sheena Bora, had founded the company.
Senior Congress leader and lawyer Kapil Sibal, who is representing Karti Chidambaram in the case, told the bench today that Karti Chidambaram can’t be arrested since there is no FIR by the Enforcement Directorate.(With Agency Inputs ).
