Saffron BJP Gets President After 3 Years Bihar Minister Nitin Navin will replace J P Nqdda
NEW DELHI : After a search of nearly three years, the saffron Bharatiya Janata Party has found a replacement for Jagat Prakash Nadda. The BJP on Sunday appointed Bihar Minister and party youth leader Nitin Navin as its national working president, a major organizational change at the top level of the ruling party. The decision was taken by the BJP Parliamentary Board. The 45-year-old Navin will replace the current party chief JP Nadda.
Navin said, “When you work as a dedicated worker, the senior leaders of the party always take notice.” Navin’s appointment comes a month after the BJP’s resounding victory in the Bihar assembly elections, in which it emerged as the single largest party in the state for the first time, surpassing its alliance partner Janata Dal (United).
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the MLA from Bankipur in Bihar and Minister for Urban Development and Housing has “made a name for himself as a hardworking worker.” In his congratulatory message, Modi said, “He is a young and hardworking leader with good organizational experience. He has worked diligently to fulfill the aspirations of the people. He is known for his humble nature and grassroots approach.”
Navin, who is also the Minister of Public Works Department in the Bihar government, is a four-time MLA from the Bankipur assembly constituency in the capital Patna, which is one of the BJP’s strongest urban seats in the state. His elevation to this position brings an experienced organizer with long grassroots experience to the center of the party’s national leadership. His journey from youth politics to cabinet minister makes him one of the influential leaders of the Bihar BJP.
Born in Patna, Nitin Navin began his political journey at a young age through the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, after which he became involved in active party politics with the BJP and its youth wing. Over the past few years, he has been known as a disciplined organizer with strong connections with booth-level workers and the state cadre. He was first elected to the Bihar Legislative Assembly in 2000 and has continuously held the Bankipur seat in subsequent elections. In the 2020 Bihar Assembly elections, he won by a margin of nearly 84,000 votes, defeating Love Sinha, the son of actor-turned-politician Shatrughan Sinha.
Within the organization, Naveen has held several important responsibilities, including serving as the General Secretary of Bihar BJP, a member of the party’s National Executive, and the National General Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM). He also served as the Bihar State President of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, playing a role in strengthening the party’s youth base.
He is often credited with strengthening the BJP’s organizational structure in Patna and neighboring areas, particularly at the booth level. Known for his accessibility and focus on local issues, Naveen has been actively involved in election planning and cadre mobilization during both state and national elections.
Nitin Naveen is the son of veteran BJP leader Naveen Kishore Sinha and belongs to the Kayastha community. Within the Bihar BJP, he is seen as a leader who combines electoral success with organizational depth. These are qualities that have now earned him a significant role in the party’s national leadership. Additionally, he was the in-charge for Sikkim and co-in-charge for Chhattisgarh for the BJP, where he is credited with contributing to the party’s electoral success.
Nitin Naveen is known for his efforts in improving road infrastructure and promoting urban housing schemes. His efforts have given impetus to several road construction projects in Bihar. He has also been in the news for taking steps to increase pensions for journalists, as well as increasing incentives for ASHA and Mamta workers. Nitin Naveen, a minister in the Bihar government, will be replacing JP Nadda.
