Earlier, in a huge setback to the Congress party ahead of assembly polls in Haryana, its former state chief Ashok Tanwar resigned. Even as the party named him as a star campaigner for the upcoming assembly polls, he resigned.
His decision came amid reports of tussle in the Haryana Congress between Tanwar and Bhupinder Singh Hooda. Days ahead of his move, he was removed from the post of Haryana Congress chief, and Kumari Selja was named as the party’s state president.

Making a scathing attack on the party, Tanwar, in his resignation letter titled ‘Resignation from party’s primary membership, said that the Congress party is going through an ‘existential crisis’. He added that it is because of the ‘internal contradictions’ in the party.

He said that Congress has now become ”anti-thesis of democracy and plagued by feudal attitudes.” He went on to add that as per his experience in the past few years the internal democracy in the party is ‘killed by few lobbies’. Haryana Opinion poll: BJP projected to win big, Congress struggles
For Haryana, which will go to polls in a single-phase on Monday, the Jan Ki Baat Opinion poll projects that the Khattar-led BJP is likely to win between 58 to 70 seats, while the Congress is projected to win anywhere between 12 to 18 seats.
While the newly stitched INLD-SAD alliance is projected to get 0 to 1 seat, the JJP that has been formed by Dushyant Chautala after infighting in the Chautala family, and is backed by former Congress chief Ashok Tanwar, is projected to get 5 to 8 seats. The Opinion Poll has also projected BJP to get a massive vote share of 56.7%.

Addressing a poll rally in Haryana’s Hisar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his shock on seeing the viral video in which Congress leader Ahmed Patel taunted at Haryana Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda saying “Party kaha gayi (where is the party)”. He said that the party that has conceded defeat just before the elections can never do good to the state. He stated that Congress has failed.
PM Modi said”What should I say about the condition of the Congress party. A video of their leaders went viral a few days ago. They were in the Parliament complex and they were making fun of their Haryana neta.
I was so shocked that the Haryana neta was pleading and the rest of the Congress leaders were kind of threatening him. You saw the video right? Will you tolerate this insult for Haryana? Will you tolerate this type of politics by Congress? he himself conceded defeat, he said its enough for them if they win only 12-14 seats. These tired and failed people, can they take Haryana to a new route? No.” (With Inputs from Agency & Chnadigrah Bureau ).
