Opposition parties stage walk out from Rajya Sabha after Modi’s speech

136038-zppvvpsnbf-1581000127 (2)NEW DELHI : Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a savage dig at Rahul Gandhi in Lok Sabha , after the former Congress Chief rose to intervene during his reply to the Motion of Thanks to President’s speech in Lok Sabha on Thursday.
The prime minister compared Rahul Gandhi’s belated response to that of a tubelight. Twitter “I have been speaking for the last 30 to 40 minutes but it took this long for the current to reach.

Bahut se tubelight aise hi hote hain (many of the tube lights are like this),” he said. PM Modi took a swipe at Rahul Gandhi’s comment that the “youth will start beating PM Modi with sticks in six months.” “I heard an opposition leader say yesterday that the youth will hit Modi with sticks in six months.
I have decided that I will increase my frequency of Surya Namaskar so that my back becomes so strong that it can bear the hit of so many sticks,” Modi said. Rahul Gandhi’s remark ‘youth will start beating PM with sticks in 6 months’, irks BJP In any case, I have been abused so much for the last two decades, their negativity hardly matters,” he added.
Rahul Gandhi had on Wednesday said at a public meeting: “You wait and see. Narendra Modi who is giving speeches now, he will not be able to get out of his home in six-seven months. The youth of India will beat him with sticks. They will make him understand that if you don’t give jobs to our youth, India cannot go forward.” PM Modi was replying to the Motion of Thanks to President’s speech in Lok Sabha on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Rajya Sabha on Thursday passed a motion thanking the President for his address to the joint sitting of both Houses of Parliament at the start of the Budget Session. The Upper House passed the resolution after opposition-sponsored amendments were negated. PM Modi replied to the debate on the motion that lasted over 13 hours.
The Budget Session of the Parliament has been witnessing massive uproar over the issues of the CAA, NRC and NPR in both Houses. Ghulam Nabi Azad clarifies that the Opposition has never been against persecuted Hindus from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh coming to the country.  The only opposition was over the exclusion of persecuted Hindus from Sri Lanka and over the religious partisanship shown in the act, he says.

While, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today tore into the opposition in parliament for their protests against the citizenship law CAA and National Population Register (NPR) and accused parties of “taking a u-turn” for political reasons.”Opposition leaders who were silent are now violent,” he quipped on the aggressive protests against the CAA.
The census and NPR were “normal administrative processes” which had been carried out previously as well, but were being demonized now for vote-bank politics, said the Prime Minister.
“Those who carried out the NPR are now spreading misinformation. Biometric data was collected in 2010, we came in 2014…We have all the records. Why are you lying? Why are you fooling people,” PM Modi said in Rajya Sabha, replying to a debate on the President’s speech.
The Prime Minister tackled criticism of changes in the NPR questionnaire, like the language spoken by parents. “Don’t mislead people, don’t spread rumours. Changes are always made in governance,” he said.
Since you are now in the Opposition, your own NPR now looks bad to you.  NPR and census are normal Govt procedures, which have been carried out earlier also. But when vote bank politics is a necessity then those who carried out NPR earlier, spread misinformation about it now.
Many Opposition members are very enthused these days, those who were silent have become violent.”All of you should introspect on CAA? Should you be a party to misleading the people? Nobody will benefit from the politics,” Modi said.
Modi said,”Today, digital transactions are being seen the most in smaller cities and Tier-2, Tier-3 cities are moving forward as far as the construction of modern infrastructure is concerned.” If you had so much knowledge and suggestions about the GST, then why did you keep it stuck for so long? asks Modi.
The young generation wants us think big and move forward .  Modi said,”Let us dedicate this session to discussing the economy. With people like Dr Manmohan Singh in our midst we will benefit.”

Pandit Nehru himself was in favour of protecting minorities in Pakistan, I want to ask Congress, was Pandit Nehru communal? Did he want a Hindu Rashtra? Pakistan has been trying to provoke Muslims and now the same is being done by the opposition. For them Muslims are Muslims. For us they are Indians,” he says.

He cited the example of mother-tongue, saying the data was essential now more than before because migration between states was far more prevalent now as a result of development.

“It is important to know who is migrating from which district to cities. If anyone is migrating from Odisha to Gujarat, then schools can be set up in Gujarat for them based on the language data,” he said.
Modi quoted from a Congress Working Committee (CWC) resolution of 1947, just after independence, which said the Congress was bound to offer full protection to non-Muslims from Pakistan who had crossed the border. “Was Congress communal in 1947 and is secular now?”  “Today your world has changed. Never thought defeat would change you so much.”
