Legendary Mathematician Vashishtha Narayan Singh’s body kept lying on Road at PMCH for ambulance

The story of Singh, who gained fame as a mathematical genius, grew into more of a myth than a man. His dissertation–”Reproducing Kernels and Operators with Cyclic Vector” won great acclaim in the field of mathematics.
The entire state machinery has failed to provide him with the deserved respect as his body was kept in open while the hospital denied providing an ambulance.
The 77-year-old Vashishtha Singh was admitted at the Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH) and on Thursday he passed away. But after his death, his body was kept in the open within the hospital premises as the staff refused to provide an ambulance to the family members.
Singh’s brother was with him at the PMCH hospital and told a media person said that the hospital authorities expressed their inability to provide ambulance and that was the reason his body had to be kept in the open for an hour.
The news spread like fire and later, the state govt came into action and then an ambulance was arranged for the Boyd. The grieved family said that they do not expect anything from the state government as they have always failed to give him recognition. Later, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar went to his house and paid his condolences.
The Legendary Mathematician Indian mathematician Vashishth Narayan Singh, who is said to have challenged Einstein’s theory of relativity, passed away on Thursday. The 77-year old had been suffering from Schizophrenia for 40 years.
“Singh’s condition deteriorated this morning. He was rushed to Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH), where doctors declared him dead,” said one of Singh’s relatives.Singh, a resident of Basantpur in Bhojpur district, was shifted to PMCH last month. However, he was discharged following treatment.

Born in 1942, Vashishth Narayan Singh was famous for his extraordinary skills of calculation. It is believed that before the launch of the Apollo mission when multiple computers went off at the same time, Narayan’s calculations in his brains were the same as the computers when they came back up.

 Singh was born on 2 April 1942 in Basantpur village of Bhojpur district in Bihar, to Lal Bahadur Singh and Lahaso Devi. A poor household boy wrote a new chapter of success in every class. As he was studying in Patna Science College, luck shone and the eyes of Professor John Kelly of California University caught sight of him. After which Vashistha Narayan moved to America in 1965 and from there he did PhD in 1969. Singh researched ‘Cycle Vector Space Theory.
He received his primary and secondary education from Netarhat Residential School and college education from Patna Science College. Singh became a legend as a student when he was allowed by Patna University to appear in the two-year course of B.Sc. (Hons.) in Mathematics in its very first year.
His achievements are still mentioned with a sense of pride by Netarhat Vidyalaya He received Ph.D. in Reproducing Kernels and Operators with a Cyclic Vector from University of California, Berkeley, in 1969. His doctoral advisor was John L. Kelley.

Singh became an assistant professor at the University of California, Berkeley. He also got a chance to work at NASA as well, where Vashishtha Narayan’s ability surprised many. It is said that the time of launch of Apollo When suddenly the communicators stopped working, Singh started calculating which was later considered correct.
Due to pressure from father he left the foreign land and returned to India. He got married at the behest of the father, but luck did not favour him. In 1973-74, his health deteriorated and he came to know that he has schizophrenia, since then he remained ill till his death.
