Lalu Prasad gets 6-week provisional bail from Jharkhandigh Court

LALUPRASADRANCHI :  The Jharkhand High Court has granted six-week provisional bail to Rashtriya Janata Dal Supremo Lalu Prasad on medical grounds.Earlier in the week, Lalu Prasad was granted a three-day parole to attend the wedding of his elder son Tej Pratap Yadav on May 12.
Lalu, who has been convicted in three fodder scam cases by a special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in Ranchi since December last year, was undergoing treatment at Rajendra Institute Medical Sciences (RIMS) here.
The RJD chief, who has been serving a jail term in Birsa Munda central jail, was admitted to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on March 29 for specialised treatment.

On April 30, the AIIMS later referred Lalu to Rajendra Institute Medical Sciences .Yoga Guru Ramdev visited Lalu Prasad at his residence in Patna and congratulated him on being granted bail.”I asked him to take proper care of himself by doing yoga,” Ramdev said. Ramdev is scheduled to attend Mr. Tej Pratap’s wedding.

On Thursday, Prasad was granted a three-day parole by the Ranchi jail authorities to attend the wedding of  his elder son Tej Pratap Yadav.Prasad reached Patna late on Thursday evening. The wedding is scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 12.
Meanwhile, on Prasad’s behalf, senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi and Prabhat Kumar appeared in the Jharkhand High Court seeking his bail on health grounds.Lawyers seek 12-week bail
They sought a 12-week provisional bail on health grounds but the court granted only six weeks.
Though, Mr. Singhvi refused to speak to the media in Ranchi, Mr. Kumar said, “Prasad has been granted six weeks provisional bail on medical ground…it will be effective from the date of his release from the jail. The court has prohibited Prasad from holding any political rally during the bail period.”
“After the expiry of his parole, Prasad has to come back to the Ranchi jail, and once the order reaches the prison, he will be released on provisional bail for six weeks for medical check-up,” said Prasad’s counsel.Prasad has been lin the Birsa Munda Central jail in different fodder scam cases since December 23, 2017.

Prasad was meeting yoga guru Ramdev at his residence in Patna when the news of the provisional bail was communicated to him. (With Agency Inputs ).
