Kangana’s sister Rangoli summoned by Mumbai Police

kangnaMUMBAI: Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut and her sister Rangoli Chandel have been summoned by Mumbai Police. Ranaut and her sister have been asked to appear before the investigating officer on October 26 and 27. The First Information Report against them was registered last week following an order from the Mumbai Magistrate’s court.
The FIR was registered following a court order asking the Mumbai Police investigate a complaint against the Bollywood actress and her sister. Kangana Ranaut and her sister have been accused of trying to create a communal divide in the Hindi film industry through their social media posts.
A plea by Munawwarali, alias Sahil A Sayyed, a Bollywood casting director, alleged that Kangana and Rangoli have been defaming Bollywood and calling the Hindi film industry a ‘hub of nepotism’ and ‘favouritism’ through her tweets from her official Twitter account and media interviews. The petitioner has accused the national award winning actress of portraying people working in Bollywood as drug addicts.
“She is creating divisions between Hindu and Muslim artists. She has tweeted very objectionable comments, which has not only hurt his religious sentiment but also the feeling of many film colleagues,” the complainant had submitted.
Sayyed has also alleged that Rangoli made an objectionable tweet to spread communal hatred among Hindu and Muslim communities.

As per ANI, the case has been registered under Section 124 A (sedition), 153-A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, prejudicial to maintenance of harmony) and 295-A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings by insulting its religion) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The Shiv Sena, which is in loggerheads with Kangana Ranaut over her statements against the Maharashtra government and the Mumbai Police in relation with Sushant Singh Rajput death case, had welcomed the court’s directive to file a case against the Bollywood actress.
Shiv Sena MP Arvind Sawant said, “I welcome the decision taken by the court. Do we want unity, integrity, sabka saath, sabka vikas or division in the country? Today the court intervened in the matter. We were talking the same thing. The truth is late but it is welcome.”

In response to a petition from a casting director who alleged that the 31-year-old, besides defaming Bollywood, was also “creating a communal divide” through her tweets, the court said a thorough investigation by an expert is necessary.
Kangana Ranaut, who made headlines with her row with Maharashtra’s ruling Shiv Sena with her comments on the Sushant Rajput case and alleged lawlessness in Mumbai, had left the city and gone back to her hometown Manali last month.
The battle between the Sena and Ms Ranaut had escalated after her comparison of the country’s financial capital with Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir and claims that she was “scared” to live there. The Sena and NCP’s Anil Deshmukh had suggested that she quit living there.
Ms Ranaut secured a stay on the demolition after it was almost over and, filed a Rs 2 crore compensation claim. In her petition, she claimed the demolition was a direct result of her comments against the Maharashtra government.
