rajnath-singhKOLKATA :In a meeting in Navanna, state secretariat, here this afternoon, Union Home Minister Rajnath informed all Chief Ministers West Bengal, Asom, Tripura, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur and Arunachal, why they need to do their best to stop infiltration, keeping an eye on terrorists’ movements across the border.
The meeting took place under tight security and secrecy happens to be an important event after China messing up Rohingya issue which right now badly cornered and pressurized Bangladesh.

According senior officials, Union Home Minister alerted all Chief Ministers about the implications of a bad border management which would turn Indian Seven Sisters, including Bengal vulnerable.

Incidentally, Bengal and Union Home Ministry agreed that taking the advantage of chaos some of the terrorists have already been trying to cross the border and the issue “was discussed with Dhaka and New Delhi got assurance of cooperation,’’ Singh informed state chief ministers and high officials attending the meeting.

Though none mentioned later during the press conference by Singh that during any special or normal operations the State Governments need to work out a more proactive roadmap for cooperation with BSF.  Especially, the area where all along the border BSF jurisdiction ends and states’ begin.

According to defense observers here, what hastened the pace of meeting with Chief Ministers has been, Chinese intervention – which didn’t come up with a solution on Rohinghya issue and India’s retreat to pressurize Myanmar to take back lakhs of displaced people, also created additional pressure on border.

Interestingly, Singh told chief ministers to take care of people living along the border with a special emphasis on their safety. The state Governments know it, he later told media persons at secretariat.
