Historic Khalsa College is committed to value-based education: Says Majithia
AMRITSAR:: Historic Khalsa College reiterated its commitment to providing value-based professional education across fields and subjects. Khalsa management stated that from the establishment of the renowned Khalsa College in 1892 to the launch of Khalsa University (KU), Amritsar, in 2025, the college has gone through many milestones, demonstrating its commitment to providing education to every segment of society.
Beginning in the Renaissance period, when society faced many challenges in the form of adverse conditions, KCGC initiated a movement that played a vital role in spreading modern education in Punjab. These words were expressed by Satyajit Singh Majithia, President of the Council and KU.
Mr. Majithia made these remarks while commemorating the 132nd anniversary of Khalsa College. He stated that this journey is not only a historical pride but also a symbol of the union of education and spirituality. The institution’s aim is not only to impart bookish education to students, but also to inspire them to high ideals and good character. KCGC Honorary Secretary and KU Pro-Chancellor Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina also reiterated the expansion of educational institutions in various fields over the past decades.
He further stated that on this day in 1890, the Khalsa College Establishment Committee was formed in Lahore, leading to the establishment of Khalsa College Middle School and Khalsa College. This same committee, under its other names, the Khalsa College Society, Amritsar, and later, the Khalsa College Charitable Society, Amritsar, has played a role in establishing various educational institutions.
KU Vice Chancellor Dr. Mehal Singh highlighted the Society’s significant contribution to promoting education and Sikh cultural heritage, saying, “The institutions run by the Society have carved a niche for themselves in the country and abroad. Thousands of students have received education here and are working in important positions in various fields, bringing glory to the country.” He added that the institution also fulfills its social responsibility by undertaking numerous social and charitable activities. He expressed hope that such religious and cultural activities will continue in the future so that new generations can connect with their religion and traditions.
Dr. Inderjit Singh Gogoani, Principal of Khalsa College Senior Secondary School, described how KCGC has proven to be an institution of education, culture, and service, inspiring future generations to a brighter future. On this occasion, PR Director Dharminder Singh Ratol released a new book, “History of the Khalsa College Governing Council – 1890 to 2026,” chronicling the institution’s illustrious 136-year history.
