Dedicated Interdisciplinary Research Centre Established In Hindu College

NEW DELHI:  Hindu College, University of Delhi inaugurated the Relaxo Research Centre, a dedicated centre for interdisciplinary research on Thursday. This state-of-the-art building offers technologically current laboratories to promote world-class research in a wide spectrum of fields like chemistry, perfumery, life sciences, gender studies, history, etc.
On this occasion, the Chief Guest, Vice Chancellor of the University of Delhi, Prof. Yogesh Singh applauded the donors for being the reason behind this revolutionary Research Centre and appreciated the of this one of its kind Research Centre. Addressing the students, he said, “All students should bring good for not only Hindu College but India through the innovative facilities available at the Centre and the aim should be development of commercially sustainable products.”
Principal of Hindu College, Prof Anju Srivastava, informed the gathering that the Research Centre houses more than 20 labs for Sciences, Humanities, Social Sciences, and Finance Sectors and includes a specialized Multimedia Lab. The Science research labs are well equipped with sophisticated instruments such as FTIR, ED-XRF, GC, GC-MS, Tunable light source,
Rotor-evaporators, CO2/O2 incubation, stability chamber, environment chamber. The center has also another special feature of a 250 seater modern auditorium as a space for holding conferences, seminars etc. Managing Director, Relaxo Footwears Ltd., Ramesh Kumar Dua, expressed his joy in this new collaboration and the promise it holds for making a meaningful contribution to the society.
This state-of-the-art Research Centre  will get the financial support of approximately Rs. 10 Cr from the Industry (Relaxo Footwear and NBCC) as major donors, Hindu College has established a dedicated five-storey Centre for Interdisciplinary research.   Professor Yogesh Singh appreciated the efforts of the College in equipping the centre with several research-related sophisticated instruments such as FTIR, ED-XRF, GC, GC-MS Tunable light source, Rotor-evaporators, CO2/02 incubation, stability chamber, environment chamber.
In order to bridge wonderful equations, we have to create such phenomenal infrastructures, where the industries can arrive and carry out their works in collaboration with academia said  Prof. Yogesh Singh . The research centre has designated research spaces and laboratories across disciplines such as the Polymer Research Lab, Cell Culture Research Lab, Centre for Policy Research, Multimedia Studio and Language Lab, among others. As Hindu College prepares to enter into its 125th year of existence, it will be fully empowered to work in the true spirit of NEP told  Prof Anju Srivastava.
She said a number of certificate courses have already been initiated at this research centre and students are acquiring skills in areas beyond the curriculum . Principal Prof Anju Srivastava announces the institution of two new research fellowships, the B.M Hatia Memorial research fellowship of 30 lacs and the N.V Thadani Memorial research fellowship of 60 lacs, meant to boost the research culture at the College, in addition to 20 ongoing innovation projects funded by the College.
