CPI(M)’s Hamletian Fix on alliance likely to end in next CC meeting

Prakash_Karat_,_Sitaram_Yechury.JPG.image.784.410KOLKATA :Increasingly losing out its relevance in a reform-driven economic spin-offs over a decade or more, Sitaram Yechurry-led Left big-brother is likely to get a stamp of approval on an alliance with new Congress, keeping in mind former general secretary Karat-led Kerala lobby’s objection on the issue.
Party sources said it would be a repeat of a common minimum pargramme of Congress-led UPA decades, but new leadership with backing from Bengal lobby, Yechurry may get the nod.

It’s time we decide as neither BJP nor Rahul- led  Congress could win Gujarat the way they wanted, nor BJP had had a landslide victory which Left observers here feel “gives Opposition parties a chance to make a serious  effort  to attempt Saffron brigade.’’
But central committee meeting would not be an easy way out where Left is likely to face arrogant Karat lobby which will not so easily endorse a verdict in favour of alliance with Congress.

Strangely Karat he has no problem with Congress being dynastic, but other issues which may not have a practical approach – with Left influence diminishing nation-wide, Karat still thinks only a broader Left front can resist Saffron brigade,’’ quipped a left leader.
