NEW DELHI :  Delhi Police imposed Section 144 across the city as the total number of coronavirus cases across India increased substantially.With around seven fresh cases reported in the country till Sunday noon, the death toll here rose to seven.
The national capital will be in a lock-down from Monday till the end of March, sealing the borders, suspending all modes of public transport and closing down shops and markets.
Declaring prohibitory orders till March 31 midnight in Delhi, the police banned protests, demonstrations and other gatherings in the city and said that the order will come into effect from 9 pm on March 22.
According to Delhi Police PRO all assemblies, demonstrations, processions are now banned in the city. All gatherings — whether social, cultural, political, religious, academic, sports event, seminar — are also prohibited.
He further said that weekly markets except for, vegetable markets, fruit markets and essential commodities, will be shut down. No guided group tour by private tour operators will be allowed, he said.

According to the prohibitory orders issued, assembly of any kind for demonstrations, processions, protest is banned. Any gathering- social, cultural, political, religious, academic, sports, seminar or conference is prohibited.
Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday announced a complete lockdown in the national capital from 6 am on Monday till March 31 midnight even as novel coronavirus or Covid-19 confirmed cases surged across the country with two fresh deaths on Sunday.

Kejriwal, during a joint press conference with Delhi LG Anil Baijal, said: “For your health, for Delhi and for the nation, we have decided to lock down the national capital from 6 am on Monday till March 31 midnight.”
There are 27 confirmed cases in Delhi, out of which six cases are of transmission and rest 21 cases are those who have travel history abroad. Kejriwal listed various provisions which are to be followed during the lockdown period and said that actions will be taken against anyone violating the order.
Meanwhile, cities across India came to standstill after the self-imposed curfew as no traffic movement was seen across India. Bihar reported its first two cases of coronavirus including death of a 38-year-old man who died due to COVID-19 disease.
Punjab govt has announced lock down till March 31 as a preventive measure to stop spread of coronavirus.As India stands together to fight the COVID-19 emergency through Janata Curfew, we bring you the live updates of the day:
1. No public transport service will be allowed, including private buses, taxis, auto-rickshaw, and e-rickshaw. Only 25 per cent of the total number of DTC buses will be operative for essential services.

2. All shops, workshops, godowns, weekly markets, offices, commercial establishment, factory, will remain shut.

3. Borders with other states will be sealed. Only the transportation of essential goods and items from these states will be allowed.
4. Inter-states buses, trains, metro trains will remain suspended.
5. Domestic and international flights coming to Delhi are being suspended
6. Construction activities will not be allowed and religious places will be shut as well.
7. Private offices will remain closed
SERVICES AVAILABLE TO PUBLIC

1: All fire stations and departments, prison departments, ration shops, police departments, electricity departments, water departments, municipal services and magisterial services will be open for the public.
2. Print and electronic media are exempted from the order.
3. Telecom, internet and postal services will be there
4. E-commerce services, ration shops, confectionery shops, chemists, pharmacies, petrol pump will remain accessible to the public
5. Only take away and home delivery will be allowed from restaurants
Arvind Kejriwal further appealed people to stay at home and not walk out unnecessarily. He said: “The more you’ll stay away from other people, the more efficiently we will be able to can save ourselves
Arvind Kejriwal also said that any person who says he is out on road to provide and get the essential services (listed above), will be believed and not asked any further questions. He need not provide a certificate as proof.
“Private offices will remain close but all the employees will be considered on duty — whether he is a permanent or contractual employee. They will be given their full salary,” Arvind Kejriwal said. Kejriwal said action will be taken against any person who will violate these orders.
On hoarding and black-marketing of masks and sanitizers in the state, Arvind Kejriwal warned people and asked them not to carry out such practices. “We will not hesitate to take any action against such people,” he said.
Metro services across the nation have also been suspended till March 31, with several states imposing Section 144 from Monday and extending the Janata Curfew till Monday morning.
As of now, the state governments of Nagaland, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Punjab and West Bengal have announced a complete shutdown till on Sunday.
In a bid to contain the volatile situation, the Centre and state governments have decided to completely lock down 75 districts across the country where coronavirus cases have been reported.
