PATNA/ NEW DELHI : In poll-bound Bihar, Paswan has been deliberately making statements to hint that his party has a tacit understanding with the BJP.While he has vehemently praised PM Narendra Modi and gone to the extent of claiming that he is PM’s ‘Hanuman’, he has been slamming Nitish Kumar, the BJP-JD(U)’s CM face in the state. The BJP has, however, clarified that the party has no ties with the LJP.

Chirag Paswan is in all-white clothes of mourning that he wore in the days after his father’s death on October 8. With Ram Vilas Paswan’s garlanded portrait by his side, he is heard chatting with his team before the recording. The video was taken when the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) leader was filming a message on his party’s manifesto for the polls.
With hours left for ballots to open in Bihar, a video of Chirag Paswan, preparing for a speech in front of his late father’s photograph has gone viral. The impromptu footage shows the Lok Janashakti Party leader instructing a cameraperson on how to shoot him beside a photograph of his father Ram Vilas Paswan.

“Are bhai texture alag hota hai har kisi ke baal ka.. Main ek kaam karta hoon, shuru ki lines hai,” Paswan is seen saying. He also asks the cameraperson if the video was getting shot with a single camera.

“Azadi ke 75 saal baad bhi Bihar ko pichhda pradesh kaha jaata hai.. And I lost the plot. Let’s do this from the beginning,” he says towards the end of the clip. The video went viral on social media platforms and netizens mocked the young leader, who has been issuing conflicting statements, aimed at creating a rift between Bharatiya Janata Party and Janata Dal (United).
“I don’t know with what motive the clip is being spread. Do I need to prove that I’m sad on my father’s death? Didn’t expect CM to do such low-level politics. He’s scared he’ll go to jail in my government,” Paswan said.
LJP blames JD(U), says Nitish Kumar’s departure is confirmed
Earlier, LJP also issued a statement blaming JD(U) for the faux pas and alleging that Nitish Kumar was scared of losing Bihar polls.

“Now Nitish Kumar is convinced that he is going to lose the polls. If a party has to contest, videos have to be shot. What do people of JD(U) want to prove by releasing this video? This video was being shot for the party’s manifesto.
Videos are being shot every day. What’s the problem with that? The people of Bihar will give a befitting reply to Nitish Kumar. His departure is now confirmed,” the statement by LJP read.

As the video went viral, Chirag Paswan blamed Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for the leak, “I don’t understand the purpose of this video? Do I have to give proof that I was sad about my father’s death?
The level to which Nitish Kumar has stooped shows that he is worried,” he told ANI. Reacting to the video, many mocked the 37-year-old actor-turned MP for his “performance”. Some attacked him for “cracking jokes” while in mourning.
“JDU leaders, fearing their defeat, have stooped to a new low. The video was shot to launch the party manifesto. Every day a video is being shot, so what is wrong with it? Nitish Kumar will get the people’s reply to this too. Nitish Kumar’s exit is certain,” tweeted Chirag Paswan’s party.
Chirag Paswan, a member of the Nitish Kumar-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), is contesting the polls separately, saying that while he remains loyal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP, his mission is to see the Chief Minister’s exit.
Bihar will vote in three rounds till November 7. The results will be announced on November 10.
