Chhina Welcomes Court’s Verdict against Congress leader Sajjan Kumar
AMRITSAR: Senior BJP leader Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina today welcomed the decision of Delhi’s Session Court which pronounced life imprisonment against former Congress MP Sajjan Kumar in the 1984 Sikh massacre case. He said the decision came late but still there is a hope that any person who commits a crime will have to face the law one day.
Chhina said the victim families have got some respite with the decision. He said during the massacre, hundreds of innocent Sikhs were burnt alive in the streets of Delhi and the names of many Congress leaders have surfaced. “ But as it was Congress that was ruling in the Centre for most of the times, no action was initiated against the culprits and all those guilty leaders continued scot free”, said Chhina adding that with BJP coming into power in 2014, a new SIT was formed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and cases were pursued.
He said this was the reason that one after the other Congress leaders are getting the sentences pronounced in various cases of massacre. He said Sajjan was sentenced to life imprisonment and showed that he was the mastermind in the massacre and he was roaming free due to the blessings of the high ups during the Congress’s regime. He said there are various other Congress leaders including Kamal Nath and Jagdish Tytler also facing trials and day is not far when they will also face justice.
