BJP’s getting edgy in Bengal keeps TMC worried as it threatens to replace Left, Cong

KOLKATA: If Modi-Mamata duels in the last phases crushed CPI(M)-Left more and to an extent restricted Congress to Malda and Murshidabad, helping Trinamool Congress with electoral gains, it also made BJP a rising force in terms voting percentage. According to state Election Commission office released records, “in 19 assembly segments BJP candidates defeated their rivals, including Bhawnipur Mamata Banerjee’s assembly segment where it could score a little less, but left alarms for Banerjee!
If during Atal Behari’s time, BJP could get 11.13 percent vote with alliance with Trinamool Congress, this time it shot to 17.2 percent without any alliance and Modi touring Bengal for five times.`modi-16a [1]
`It would be politically premature to overlook these factors both by TMC and BJP if it wants to  spread up in Bengal. For we may not have any opposition in the next assembly election unless BJP tries hard with Left and Congress faces are getting signaled for doom,’’ a political commentator said.
While both BJP and Modi won primarily on the basis of UPA II policy-triggered inflation and growth model for upper middle-class of jobless growth and has to war with them on priority basis, if looking for a new political venture, it has to invest both time and organization in Bengal, felt political observers.“Without a strong opposition, Mamata Banerjee, flattered with her 34 seats out of 42, and anger with media, may turn still less democratic,’’ fear political observers.“Thus if it was Banerjee’s turn, let BJP come up with strategy to fill in the political vacuum in Bengal,’’ said a state BJP leader.
