Bihar Toppers Scam: Lalkeshwar Prasad Singh, wife Usha Sinha arrested
PATNA: Mastermind of toppers scam of Bihar intermediate Examination, Lalkeshwar Prasad Singh and his wife Usha Sinha have been arrested. Lalkeshwar Prasad Singh is former chairman of Bihar School Examination Board.
Both were evading arrest after lodging of FIR against them. Patna Senior Superintendent of Police, Manu Maharaj told that they have been arrested by Special Investigation Team of Bihar from Varanasi.
He said, after fulfilling legal formalities, the two will be brought to Patna as they have been arrested outside Bihar. He said, a special team has been constituted to interrogate them when they will be brought to Patna. Earlier, a Bihar court on June 15th had issued arrest warrants against Lalkeshwar Prasad Singh and his wife in the scam.
Meanwhile, police have seized a pistol and five live cartridges from Bachcha Rai’s office in Bishun Rai college. Police have also registered a case under Arms Act, a law which helps in curbing illegal weapons and violence stemming from them. Police sources said, a local court will be requested for police remand to interrogate about this arms. Vaishali police said, there will be speedy trial against Bachcha rai in this case.
Baccha Rai is the secretary-cum-principal of Bishun Rai College in Vaishali district. He is the alleged kingpin in the Bihar merit scam and he was arrested 11th of this month. Arts and Science toppers Ruby Rai and Saurabh Shrestha belonged to that college.
