AYODHYA : VHP wants ‘entire disputed land’ for Ram temple, decision after Dec.11

ayodhya-25AYODHYA : The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Sunday organised a Dharma Sabha in Uttar Pradesh’s Ayodhya, where Hindu seers discussed their stand and strategy for the construction of a grand Ram Mandir. Also today, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray along with his wife Rashmi and son Aaditya offered prayers to Ram Lalla at the disputed site in Ayodhya this morning.

A decision on the Ayodhya Ram temple will be taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his ministers after December 11, one of the religious leaders attending the Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s mega rally in Ayodhya claimed today. Swami Rambhadracharya said he had the assurance of senior a union minister, whom he met on Friday. He, however, did not name the minister.

Quoting the minister, he said, “I am hopeful that a legislation will come for temple construction. The government will respect our sentiments — this is what a seniormost minister told me. He has asked me to keep patience”.The religious leader, who heads a Chitrakoot-based organisation  (is this correct) also said he had been assured of action from Mohan Bhagwat, the chief of the BJP’s ideological mentor, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.  security-25 b
“He assured me that the government will be pressurised for legislation in Parliament for temple construction. We want all MPs to be united. ” he said in his address at the meeting at the temple town that was attended by nearly 50,000 people. The meeting was held as part of the right-wing organisation’s push for fast-tracking the temple-building at the disputed site said to be the birthplace of the Lord Ram.
Meanwhile, warning that emotions of Hindus should not be taken for granted, the Shiv Sena chief said the BJP government at the Centre “may not last” if the Ram Temple is not built in Ayodhya and called for an ordinance to pave its way. In order to avert any untoward incident, the Uttar Pradesh administration had taken over Ayodhya ahead of the VHP-organised Dharma Sabha. On Saturday, 17,680 people visited Ram Lalla.
The streets of Ayodhya were filled with Right-wing activists who have poured in from various parts of the county for the VHP grand event on Sunday, even as security has been heightened in the temple town to maintain law and order. Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s ‘Dharma Sabha’ is being touted as the largest congregation of ‘Ram bhakts‘ in Ayodhya since the 1992 ‘kar seva‘, with the Hindu outfit claiming a large number of people will attend it.
The RSS and its other affiliates have also thrown in their support to make the event a show of strength so that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government at the Centre can be pressurised into acting for the early construction of the temple. Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray is also taking part in some events.

The Dharma Sabha organised by the VHP in Ayodhya has ended. VHP leaders are reported to have said at the event that they do not agree to the formula of division of the disputed land among three parties. VHP leader Champat Rai said they do not want a part of land, but the entire (disputed) area.

2:30 pm: The case is in the Supreme Court, we should either wait for orders or find consensus. The government has a lot of land, it (Ram Temple) can be constructed across the Sarayu river. There should be no talk of temple on a disputed land,” says Shivpal Yadav, leader od the Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party Lohia
The Ayodhya title suit is pending at the Supreme Court, which has refused to fast-track the hearing of the case. In January, the court is expected to take a call on the date of hearing. While the speakers at today’s VHP meet called for an Ordinance, there was no formal resolution on it.The group is planning a meet in Delhi on December 9 and a weeklong series of events across India from December 18 to drum up support for the temple.(with Agency inputs ).
