Assam exempted from giving Aadhar number for UGC scholarships
NEW DELHI: The Centre has exempted Assam from the purview of compulsory Aadhaar number which is required for availing the University Grants Commission scholarships for higher education. The decision to this effect was communicated to Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal by Union Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar yesterday .
The Chief Minister met him in New Delhi with state Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.Mr.Javadekar said no students will be denied scholarship on the pretext of Aadhaar.
