rohtagi-kkob-621x414livemintNEW DELHI : Centre has told the Supreme Court that there is no blame game or logjam in appointments and transfer of judges for
higher judiciary.

However, Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi told a bench headed by Chief Justice T S Thakur today that the high courts have pretty much delayed starting the process. He added that the process to fill up five to six year old vacancies have been started late.
According to reports that the Attorney General placed before the bench two sets of documents in sealed envelopes. The sets contained a compilation of facts and figures on the appointment and transfer of judges. Mr Rohatgi told the bench that the documents will indicate every aspect of different high courts.
The Bench appreciated the efforts made by the Centre and termed appointment of judges as an arduous process. It said, once the process gets started, there should not be delay and it has to move forward. The Court posted the matter for further hearing on 30th of this month.
