Foreign universities coming to India will collaborate with Indian academic institutions: Smriti Irani
NEW DELHI: The Government has proposed that foreign universities coming to India will have to collaborate with Indian academic institutions so that in case of any legal dispute, the settlement will be done in the country itself. Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani said this in an exclusive interview to All India Radio.
Ms. Irani also said that the government will soon come out with a new Education policy to promote quality education in the country. She said, views and suggestions of various stakeholders including Education Councils have been considered to prepare the policy. The Minister said that the Committee set up for the purpose will submit the Draft Policy within 15 to 20 days.
On the issue of suicide by a research scholar in Hyderabad University, Mrs Smriti Irani said, the issue was politicized. She said, the aim of her Ministry is to ensure that the Universities are not used as a tool for political purposes and remain temple of learning.
